Identifying Damaged Materials to Send to Preservation

This guide should assist staff and student assistants in identifying circulating and other material that needs repair or rebinding.

Watch out for pages that are torn, broken, loose, missing, moldy, razored, wrinkled or puckered due to water damage, damaged due to post-it notes, tape, stains or debris, security-strips and other factors.

Some of these problems are shown in some of the other sections of this guide. Shown below are a few more examples.

In general, we do not track or try to correct underlining, highlighting, or marginal notation damage, unless specifically requested to do so by Circulation for a particular piece.
