In keeping with Washington University Libraries’ ongoing commitment to providing user-friendly service and seamless access to information, the library’s Web Team continually seeks to evaluate and strengthen the organization’s online presence. While much of that work occurs incrementally, in July of 2013 the team began the first phase of a major project to redesign the library website. The overarching aim is to improve the look, organization, content, and overall usability of the site.
Much has been accomplished since the team first started in July of 2013. Pages were evaluated, site architecture built, and content was converted to the WordPress Template and platform. The University Libraries partnered with the Office of Public Affairs and adopted their template to improve branding, the user experience for website visitors, and an easier way for content specialists to update their pages.
In the Fall 2015 semester, we will be launching a beta site for the University Libraries. The beta site will be available in tandem with the current website allowing users the opportunity to provide feedback before the January 2016 full launch.
