Sufism

(Above, A Sufi adherent twirls during a performance in Cairo)
Sufism is a broadly defined term often used to define and identify various Islamic mystical movements. The phenomenons of mysticism are sometimes known as tasawwuf.
The term is drawn from the Arabic, suf, meaning wool. The term sufi, therefore, indicates one who wears wool.
