RSS Feeds for Journal Alerts & Other News
RSS can deliver current tables of contents to your browser (via a free RSS reader). Of course they can come as email also but most folks find their inboxes are plenty full already. The RSS reader allows you to browse when you are ready. Since a common complaint about going online-only is that it's hard to browse the current journals, I think it is worthwhile to encourage you to learn to browse your favorite current journals online using RSS.
To encourage this exploration I offer these resources and services:
- RSS links on the Math Ejournals list. Please let me know additional titles you want.
- A personal OPML file of the titles you want to browse regularly. Just send me the journal titles you want. Then you can import all the subscriptions with a single cut and paste.
- Individual or group sessions to help you get started; just email me to arrange this.
- If there is interest in the math department, I will customize additional resources.
RSS feeds are also a way to get all sort of news, fun and serious.
I hope these pages created for other disciplines are inspirational:
- Using RSS Feeds to Keep Current with Medical Literature | RSS Feeds and Email Alerts (Becker Medical Library)
- Becker Catalog - Many journal entries in Becker Catalog include links to RSS feeds for current tables of contents for that journal. If you want an RSS feed for a journal that isn't listed, check the journal web site for RSS or RSS symbol:
I'd be happy to check for sources for titles also -- just ask! - Using RSS to Keep Up With Psychology
- RSS for Biologists
- Keeping Up
- Library Blogs and Feeds
