Special Collections Research & Access

Quick guide for WashU students, faculty and staff, as well as community researchers

For non-WU affiliated researchers

  • All on-site patrons must follow University health and safety requirements, including but not limited to mask-wearing and self-screenings.

Special Collection Procedures

For the safety and preservation of the collections:

  • Store bags, coats, and any food/drink (including water bottles) in the provided closet
  • Use ONLY pencil when writing notes.
  • Keep all materials flat on the table, or in provided book rest
  • Ask the staff if you have any questions or concerns!

  • paper copy can be printed and brought if visiting in-person; 
  • or pdf with electronic signature can be returned as email attachment to spec@wumail.wustl.edu

Archive, Manuscript & Rare Book collections are accessed in Olin Library at the Special Collections reading room.

*HOURS:  Monday - Friday 9:00-5:00 by appointment

*LOCATION:  Olin Library, 1st floor, Danforth Campus
