Persistent Identifiers at Washington University

University Libraries Services for DOIs, ARKs, and other information about persistent identifiers

Archival Resource Keys

Washington University in St. Louis can only provide ARKs for faculty, staff, students, and researchers affiliated with the university.

ARKs (provided through EZID) can also be created as another method of persistent linking. ARKs can be deleted so they can be used for documents or digital items that aren't as permanent. ARKS are recommended for projects requiring more flexibility, early or unpublished versions of material. There are also fewer options for descriptive information associated with the ARK than a DOI.
