Popular reviews in periodicals: These sources are non-scholarly and non-film specific, e.g.,The New York Times, Newsweek, Time, The Guardian

Reviews in non-peer reviewed but film-specific journals: These appear in film-specific journals that have not gone through the peer-review process. Note:This can be a tricky distinction  Apply the principles you know about distinguishing between scholarly and popular publications when you are unsure about publication type.

Peer reviewed reviews: These reviews appear in film-specific scholarly/peer-reviewed journals. To determine the status of a periodical, apply the characteristics you know about scholarly journals.
