If you are a WashU staff or faculty member, student, community or other scholar considering conducting oral histories, and you are interested in possibly preserving these in Special Collections, please contact us!
A curator or archivist will arrange to speak with you about the project, if possible well in advance of your project starting.
Together, we can determine:
- Are these interviews appropriate to save for future researchers as an oral history collection (ie be archived)?
- Should it be archived at WashU or elsewhere?
- Does it fit the collecting parameters of Special Collections?
- Is there a more appropriate archive where it should be placed (part of larger academic field, already in nation-wide archive, etc?)
- any privacy or other access concerns related to the interviews.
- file logistics, permission forms, and more!
