Open Scholarship orientation on faculty publications

How to support green open access at WUSTL Danforth Campus and contribute faculty materials to the repository

About the Workshop

Washington University's open access resolution states that "...when consistent with their professional development, members of the Faculty should endeavor to:...Submit a final manuscript of accepted, peer-reviewed publications to one of the University’s digital repositories whenever consistent with the copyright agreement."

The resolution also says, "the University’s Libraries should encourage any faculty member who would be willing to join in this resolution, regardless of type of scholarly and creative work generated."

The purpose of the Open Scholarship workshop, and this libguide, is to help library staff, especially subject librarians, understand how Open Scholarship works and what the Libraries can offer in order to provide encouragement to faculty and to assist with depositing scholarly and creative work in the repository.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the benefits of contributing faculty scholarship to Open Scholarship and be able to discuss these points with faculty or assist faculty interested in the repository
  • Develop a basic understanding of how to use SHERPA/RoMEO to find journal permissions
  • Submit an article or other faculty publication to Open Scholarship using the online submission form
