Your Mission

In the Access Granted Video Contest you will create a scholarly, original performance or mashup video that may be freely available online and is free for others to use (and if you choose, reuse) —or Open Access. The concept of the video is of your choice, but it must be well presented and should be tied to this year's OA Week theme, Generation Open. One cash prize will be awarded for the best video as well as a lesser cash prize for the second place video. The winning video will be added to Open Scholarship, a repository service of Washington University in St. Louis Libraries to provide free access to the scholarly output of the university. 

Categories

Choose to create a video from one of the three following categories:

• Scholarly Video - like a Ted Talk, present research findings, the maker’s or another scholar using Open Access scholarly sources
• Original Performance - record your own performance or work
• Video mashup - rework OA music, visual (static or moving) images etc.

Eligibility

All current Washington University in St. Louis undergraduate and graduate students may participate.

Rules 

One video entry can be submitted per student.

All videos must:

• be 5 minutes or less
• contain open access content (which is available for reuse), public domain materials or original content only
• attribute all sources and contributors in the credits
• contain a Creative Commons (CC) License. Read about and choose a CC License.
• be one of these file types: mp4, wmv, mov

Submission

• send the video file via WUSTL Dropbox to Micah Zeller (mdzeller@WUSTL.EDU) 
• Include the following in an email to Micah Zeller (mdzeller@WUSTL.EDU):

1. Subject line: Submission for Access Granted 2014
2. A description or abstract and the purpose of your video
3. Your school or major and graduating year
4. How/where did you hear about Access Granted 2014 contest?

Prizes

A $300 cash prize will be awarded for the best video; $200 for second place

• All content is subject to the guidelines established by the WUSTL Undergraduate Student Academic Integrity Policy and the GSAS Academic and Professional Integrity Policy for Graduate Students.

• WU Libraries reserves the right to disqualify submissions that are deemed inappropriate or offensive.

• By submitting a video to the Access Granted: Video Shorts contest, you are granting WU Libraries a royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to reproduce, republish, transmit, distribute, or otherwise use the submitted video and its content for non-commercial purposes and inclusion in the WU Open Scholarship institutional respository.
