Mike Lützeler Contemporary German Literature Collection

Overview of the WU Libraries' distinctive collection of contemporary German-language literature, the largest of such collections in North America

About the Collection

The Suhrkamp/Insel Collection was started in 1983, when Paul Michael Lützeler, the Rosa May Distinguished University Professor in the Humanities, approached Siegfried Unseld, Head of the Suhrkamp Verlag (publishing company) about the creation of such a collection at Olin Library. For many years Suhrkamp and its subsidaries donated copies of their German-language publications in the fields of literature, criticism, philosophy, and the social sciences. These items are integrated into the general collections. Consult the WU Catalog for exact location. Literature from this collection is also included in the annual annotated bibliographies.
