All of the workshops for fall 2021 will be hosted via Zoom. They are free and open to all. Preregistration is required, and you can sign up via the links below. Recordings of these workshops will also be available later this fall.

  • Title of Workshop: E-Resources and Data for International Research
  • Presenters: Mitsu Nakamura, Joan Wang, Dorris Scott, AJ Robinson, Walter Schlect
  • Information about Workshop:This workshop aims to provide newly enrolled students with general introductions about available e-resources provided by WUL in the fields of global area studies, starting with contents in the International Data guide which Dorris and other librarians created earlier this year. Participating librarians will further explain about each LibGuide, databases, and their projects, that they would like to introduce to new students & faculty.

  • Title of Workshop: APA Basics
  • Presenter: Theresa Mastrodonato
  • Information about Workshop: APA citation format. Focus on creating basic citations and understand in-text citations. Online resources that can be used to assist in creating citations will be presented.

  • Information about Workshop: This workshop will cover how to use Zotero to gather references, organize references, and generate formatted citations.

Wednesday - October 6, 2021

  • Title of Workshop: Textbook Ready
  • Presenter: Cheryl Holland and Clara McLeod
  • Information about Workshop: Following the step-by-step process outlined in the Textbook Affordability Resource Guide, this workshop will show students how to reduce textbook costs by using the libraries collections and services. Students will also learn how to use their class syllabi to determine which textbooks are most essential to get for each class.

  • Title of Workshop: Working with ArcGIS Online A Platform for Online Mapping and Storytelling
  • Presenter: Bill Winston
  • Information about Workshop: This session will introduce some of the many ways that ArcGIS Online enables the creation of hosted maps and stories using an online browser-based platform. Would you like to leverage existing datasets to build maps and then use those maps along with text and images to design a compelling webpage? ArcGIS Online gives you access to data resources, tools, basic templates, and options for customization. This session will provide a broad introduction to the platform and connect you with additional resources to guide you further.
