Off-Campus Access (Proxy Server and VPN)

Use this guide to log into the proxy server, get access to electronic resources from off-campus, and get tips on how to use off-campus access.

EZProxy and VPN (Virtual Private Network)

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides secure access to campus networks from off-campus; however, VPNs do not work seamlessly with the Libraries' proxy server at this time (Spring 2020).  If you are having problems access eresources and  don’t see “libproxy” in the URL, it could be because you are connected through the VPN.

It is important to establish proxy access first:

  1. First disconnect from the VPN
  2. Log into the proxy server with your WUSTL Key
  3. Proceed on to the desired ebook or database through the library’s catalog or website
  4. You may then reconnect your VPN if desired, and your proxy access to WU Libraries resources should remain active
