The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA)

Founded in 1887, the AICPA represents the CPA profession nationally regarding rule-making and standard-setting, and serves as an advocate before legislative bodies, public interest groups and other professional organizations. The AICPA develops standards for audits of private companies and other services by CPAs; provides educational guidance materials to its members; develops and grades the Uniform CPA Examination; and monitors and enforces compliance with the profession’s technical and ethical standards. The AICPA’s founding established accountancy as a profession distinguished by rigorous educational requirements, high professional standards, a strict code of professional ethics, a licensing status and a commitment to serving the public interest.

The American Accounting Association (AAA)

The American Accounting Association is the largest community of accountants in academia. The American Accounting Association promotes worldwide excellence in accounting education, research and practice. Founded in 1916 as the American Association of University Instructors in Accounting, its present name was adopted in 1936. The Association is a voluntary organization of persons interested in accounting education and research. The American Accounting Association publishes 17 world-class journals, such as The Accounting Review, Accounting Horizons, Issues in Accounting Education, and Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory.

American Tax Association

The American Taxation Association (ATA) was founded in 1974 and joined the American Accounting Association (AAA) in 1978 as the Tax Section of the AAA.

Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE)

The ACFE is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization and premier provider of anti-fraud training and education. With more than 85,000 members, the mission of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime and to assist the Membership in fraud detection and deterrence.

The California Society of CPAs supports the CPA profession with advocacy, community, top-quality CPE and free Ethics.

European Accounting Association (EAA)

The European Accounting Association (EAA) aims to link together the Europe-wide community of accounting scholars and researchers, to provide a platform for the wider dissemination of European accounting research. Besides fostering PhD students and junior researchers, another objective is to improve research in order to ensure the development and the promotion of accounting as well as the improvement of the teaching skills. It also aims at the development of relations with all other professional and research-oriented associations that are active in the field of accounting, as well as with European or international committees and authorities concerned with political decision making in this field.

Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF)

Established in 1972, the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) is the independent, private-sector, not-for-profit organization based in Norwalk, Connecticut responsible for the oversight, administration, financing, and appointment of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Financial Executives International (FEI)

Financial Executives International (FEI) is the leading advocate for the views of corporate financial management. Its more than 10,000 members hold policy-making positions as chief financial officers, chief accounting officers, controllers and treasurers at companies from every major industry. FEI enhances member professional development through peer networking, career management services, conferences, research and publications. Members participate in the activities of more than 65 Chapters in the U.S. FEI is located in Morristown, NJ.

Financial Education & Research Foundation (FERF)

Financial Education & Research Foundation (FERF) is the non-profit 501(c)(3) research affiliate of FEI which conducts objective financial research projects and professional education programs.

FINRA

Working under the supervision of the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA writes and enforces rules governing the ethical activities of all registered broker-dealer firms and registered brokers in the U.S., examines firms for compliance with those rules, fosters market transparency and educates investors.

Government Accounting Standards Advisory Council (GASAC)

The Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council (GASAC) is responsible for consulting with the GASB on technical issues on the Board's agenda, project priorities, matters likely to require the attention of the GASB, selection and organization of task forces, and such other matters as may be requested by the GASB or its chair. The Council has more than 25 members who are broadly representative of preparers, attesters, and users of financial information.

Founded in 1903, the Illinois CPA Society is one of the largest state CPA societies in the nation with more than 23,200 members.

Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)

Provides information for auditors on certification, education, research, and technology. It is a resource for auditing issues.

Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)

The IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) is the worldwide association of accountants and financial professionals in business. Founded in 1919, it is one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession. It is the only organization to offer the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant), a credential earned through a multi-part exam.

ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association)

As an independent, nonprofit, global association, ISACA engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted, industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems. ISACA serves 140,000 professionals in 180 countries. ISACA provides practical guidance, benchmarks and other effective tools for all enterprises that use information systems. ISACA defines the roles of information systems governance, security, audit and assurance professionals worldwide. The COBIT framework and the CISA, CISM, CGEIT and CRISC certifications are ISACA brands respected and used by professionals for the benefit of their enterprises.

International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)

Along with member organizations, IFAC serves the public interest by enhancing the relevance, reputation, and value of the global accountancy profession.

The International Consortium on Governmental Financial Management (ICGFM)

Established in 1978, a distinguished and international group of financial management professionals from government and academia recognized the need for the various financial practitioners to engage in dialogue about their perspectives for improving government financial management.  ICGFM became, and remains, the first "umbrella" organization composed of government entities, university departments, private firms, and professional associations devoted to improving financial management.

Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MOCPA)

Established in 1909, the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MOCPA) is the premier professional development organization dedicated to CPAs in Missouri, representing more than 9,000 members in public practice, industry, government, and education.

Missouri Division of Professional Registration

The mission of the State Board of Accountancy is to protect the interests of all the citizens of the State of Missouri, as provided in Chapter 326, RSMo, by examining, certifying, licensing and regulating certified public accountants and public accountants, and firms of certified public accountants and public accountants in the State of Missouri. The Board promulgates rules necessary to administer the provisions of Chapter 326 to ensure the competence and ethical standards of practitioners; regulates and enforces the practice of public accounting; investigates complaints and violations of Chapter 326 and related rules; and determines appropriate discipline for those who are found to have violated the statutes or regulations.

National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA)

Since 1908, NASBA has served as a forum for the nation’s 55 State Boards of Accountancy, which administer the Uniform CPA Examination, license more than 650,000 Certified Public Accountants and regulate the practice of public accountancy in the United States. As an extension of NASBA’s core mission, the NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT) provides a platform for corporate America, academia and the accounting profession to explore, promote and advance ethical behavior through business and leadership.
