Research Data Sharing at WashU

This guide is designed to support WashU researchers to effectively share data and materials generated as a result of their research.

Step 1: WURD Login

Go to the WashU Research Data repository and Login

Sign in to your account with SSO (WUSTL Key credentials)

Step 2: Submit

In the top navigation bar, click Submit, choose Dataset

A submission form will open

  • Fill in the form fields as much as possible

    • You will need to provide an ORCiD for authors

  • Upload your files

  • Be sure to include a Readme files; you can use WashU's README template

  • Click "Submit"

Step 3: Curation

What happens after you submit:

  1. You will receive a confirmation email.
  2.  A curator will assign a draft DOI, begin the curation process, and contact you to let you know curation has begun
  3. The curator will review the data for FAIRness (findability, accessibility, interoperability, resuability)
  4. Once the initial review occurs, the curator may get back to you with questions (within 5 business days)

Step 4: Publish

  1. Once you and the curator have settled on changes to make the data FAIR, the curator will:
    • make sure the FAIR data is uploaded
    • make sure the FAIR readme is uploaded
    • update the metadata
    • make the DOI live
  2. You will receive a confirmation email that the submission has been published.
