Affirmative Action In Higher Education

A guide that serves to navigate one towards sources and materials that further clarify what is affirmative action, its origins, and how it affects the college admissions process along with other aspects such as the workforce.

What Is Affirmative Action?

Attending college can be hard for many POC’s. Economic and social barriers prevent these students from accessing the same resources that their wealthy, and often white, counterparts can that aid greatly in procuring college admissions. Affirmative action takes this concept and places focus on deserving and high achieving POC’s who otherwise wouldn’t have had a strong chance of getting in. This libguide provides sources to aid  in the navigation of discovering what affirmative action is at its roots, the history behind it, and how it impacts admissions today, along with other systems such as the workforce and employment.
