PubMed

PubMed is a free interface for searching MEDLINE, the most popular bibliographic database in the health and medical sciences. It contains references to millions of journal articles from biomedical journals and is updated daily.

Finding individual citations

PubMed can quickly and efficiently help you to find an article when you only have a partial reference. You can find references where you have limited information e.g. only the author's name and the date of publication.

Simply enter your citation elements into the PubMed search box and the improved PubMed citation sensor will find your article in most cases. If you're having trouble with finding your reference using this method then consider using PubMed's Single Citation Matcher.

Single Citation Matcher

The Single Citation Matcher provides a form where you can enter known citation details to help you the full details of a reference. Just enter the details you know and click on Search. The Single Citation Matcher can be accessed from the Find section of PubMed’s homepage.
