Identifying Damaged Materials to Send to Preservation

This guide should assist staff and student assistants in identifying circulating and other material that needs repair or rebinding.

Pet Damage

These books have been damaged by pets. The Preservation Unit does track damage in  such books sent to it from Circulation and Shelving. If the damage is significant and the book cannot be fixed or rebound, Preservation will contact the bibliographer or subject specialist so that they may choose to replace, or simply withdraw. If requested by Circulation, Preservation will give a cost estimate for treatment.
