Course Reserves for Students

Checking out Print Material

Course reserve items are available at the circulation desk. 

  1. The binder at the desk lists course reserves, arranged alphabetically by the professor’s last name
  2. Find your course and write down the call number for the book you need on a piece of paper (provided)
  3. Hand the call number to a staff member who will retrieve it from the shelf and check it out to you
  • Check out is for *2 hours, 2 at a time 
  • Course reserve materials cannot be put on hold

Fines are charged on overdue items – Set a reminder on your phone a few minutes before the item is due!

*If borrowed within 2 hours of closing time, borrowers may keep course reserve checkouts overnight. Materials must be returned within one hour of the library opening. If library is closed, return using book drops.

Accessing Material on Canvas

Books

  1. Click on Syllabus.
  2. Print Books: In the syllabus, print books available on course reserve will have RESERVE written next to them that will link to the catalog record. This will let students know whether a book is currently checked out. 
  3. Electronic Books: In the syllabus, electronic books available on course reserve will have hyperlinked titles that will bring students to the catalog record for the electronic book. From there they can access the book online.  

Articles and Readings

  • In the syllabus, there are links embedded in the title that will take students to the article online or to a PDF of the article.
